Fleet Foxes

a year of music.

high school- seems so long ago.
back then, i would make a cd of songs i illegally downloaded off of napster.
a mix each month for some of my closest friends.
the "cd of the month club".
it was basically some of the most random music i could find.
we took it for granted- it was more fun than anything.
i stopped doing those cds once we graduated in 2003.

this past year, i brought it back.
i miss my friends.
it's more than just fun now.
it helps us stay connected in ways cell phones and facebook can't.
each month i thoughtfully create mixes-
sometimes with a running theme, sometimes just as random as high school.
the guys then receive the cds in the mail.

it's important to stay connected.
it's important to share music, words, and life.
here is a recap of each mix mailed out to
syracuse (mike)
nyc (close)
washington d.c. (stowell)
from pennsylvania this past year.
thanks for listening guys.

yesterday morning, every part of me just shut down
getting out of bed never seemed so difficult before
every step i took led to the wrong direction
i never really made it out the door

yesterday morning i yielded to all that i hate
if i despise it so much, why do i give in?
it seems like this battle just can't be won
am i stuck here alone again?

i'm so sick of the stumble i've been calling walk
i'm so tired of the mumble i describe as talk
now i guess it's time
i lose myself to the One who found me here

- i've been entertaining thoughts...to leave the country and ditch all credit card payments and school loans. what we do has consequences. i hope i'm not alone in the hatred of finances and academics. i don't mind most responsibilities- but $1,000,000 would make life so easy right now.
- i've been entertaining thoughts...love saves everything  :)  i think i'll stick around. despite all the stress, all you need is love.
